Newsletter - Spring / Summer 2005 2005
"To Date" Statistics
We are pleased that we are able to provide new services while
maintaining our original
programs that feed, shelter and clothe those that look to us for help. The
services and financial aid we have been able to provide to our clients
from September 1, 2004 through March 1, 2005 are listed below:
$7,804 Rent/motel
$8,664 Food for pantry
$1,673 Soup kitchen
$2,585 Heating oil
$591 Medicines
$4,205 Clothing
$2,785 Furniture
$5,775 providing for Christmas and Thanksgiving
These programs are funded through contributions from our
supporting
churches, private donations, pledges made through the United Way of
Maryland, Delaware and Chicago, fundraisers held throughout the year and
the income generated from the sales in our thrift shop.
Our programs are also supported through grants we receive from the
Emergency Food Assistance Program, which we use for the soup kitchen. The
Emergency Transitional Housing Services grant we use in cases of rental
needs. The Energy Food and Shelter Program provides funding for feeding,
sheltering and the payment of emergency utility needs. The Statewide
Nutrition Assistance Program allows us to purchase food and other needed
equipment used in our food pantry and soup kitchen.
The Ray of Hope has been servicing 5,000 people a year. Continuing to meet
the increasing needs is often a challenge. Contributions and food
donations taper off once the holidays and the cold weather have passed,
leaving our food pantry shelves close to empty. At this time we are happy
to accept donations of summer clothing, food and house-ware items.
Financial contributions are greatly appreciated and help us to provide the
essential basics to families that come to us for help.
We are grateful to everyone that has generously supported us through
gifts and donations.
We thank you!
